In with wood and out with plastic

I picked up these inexpensive wooden mushrooms at a craft stall.

Added them to the play area...

Big Seed is enjoying the felt playmat. He used coloured stones as ducks for the pond, the wooden mushrooms as a house and a wooden bowl as a cave. The fairy wool served as a bath for the mushrooms ( very creative!) and also as fairy people to live in the cave.

The flowers I had sown on the felt had now transformed into bees who lived in the holes in the big mushroom.

By the time I had made supper, he had made some wooden homes for his gnomes and had created a little world.

You don't get that from ToysRUs!

Such a joy to watch him create and play.
